Center-hung scoreboard celebrated in Kaminsky Gym
JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin Schools will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new center-hung scoreboard in Kaminsky Gymnasium at Joplin High School, 2104 Indiana Ave.
The ribbon cutting will take place prior to the Joplin High School Varsity Girls Basketball game on Thursday, Dec. 7. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. The game is part of Joplin High School’s annual tradition of hosting an in-school basketball event for students and staff.
Joplin Schools Athletic Director Matt Hiatt said the scoreboard with its accompanying shot clocks and an end-of-period lighting system, will help allow a better viewing experience for all spectators, while providing student athletes and game officials with the best system for game play.
Installation of the new scoreboard and timing system is nearly complete and was made possible through local sponsors Satterlee Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning Co., Gameco, Franklin Technical Center, Crowder College, and S&S Roofing and Repair.
“Since its construction 10 years ago we have dreamed about a center-hung scoreboard in Kaminsky Gymnasium,” said Hiatt. “We are grateful for the generosity of our local business partners who have made this dream a reality. We would also like to thank the Joplin Schools Board of Education, administration, facilities department and community development team for making this project possible. We are excited to show it off to everyone on December 7th.”
Sponsors will be welcomed into the Kaminsky Hospitality Room both before and after the game for refreshments. Local media partners are encouraged to attend.
