Morning accident east of Mt. Vernon injures four

An accident on Missouri 74, about 4 miles east of Mt. Vernon around 7:25 this morning resulted in injuries to four people.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a southbound passenger car driven by a 16-year-old female from Cassville was making a left turn and failed to yield to a car driven by 23-year-old Allison Q. Barker of Springfield.

Barker received moderate injuries. She was taken to a Springfield hospital.

The 16-year-old driver and two passengers in her car, a 16-year-old female from Pierce City and 19-year-old Austin D. Ritchie of Aurora all suffered minor injuries.

They were taken to a hospital in Aurora.
