Minimum wage rate set for Missouri private employers for 2024
Missouri’s minimum wage is going up next year.
Missouri’s minimum wage rate for 2024 will increase to $12.30 per hour, effective January 1. In 2018, Missouri voters approved increasing the minimum wage by 85 cents per hour each year through 2023.
At a minimum, all private businesses are required to pay the $12.30 hourly rate, except some retail and service businesses.
Missouri’s minimum wage law does not apply to public employers, nor does it allow the state’s minimum wage rate to be lower than the federal minimum wage rate.
According to the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, starting in 2024, the minimum wage may increase or decrease each year depending on the cost-of-living changes reflected in the Consumer Price Index.
Missouri’s minimum wage is currently $12 per hour.
