Joplin man charged with sexually assaulting a minor

A man from Joplin is accused of sexually assaulting a minor. Read the full press release below

On October 11th, 2023, the Joplin Police Department received a report of a past tense child molestation that took place in the city of Joplin. The initial information led investigators to believe that an 11-year-old female had been sexually assaulted when she was between the ages of 8 and 9.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Jason W. Black, age 49 of Joplin, was arrested and charges were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Black was charged with 2 counts Statutory Sodomy in the 1st degree, Child Molestation in the 2nd degree, and attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Black was given a $100,000 cash only bond and is currently being held at the Jasper County Jail.
