Webb City man arrested after Joplin police pursuit
A man from Webb City is facing several charges after a police pursuit Friday. Read more from the Joplin Police Department below:
On November 17, 2023, at 08:10 a.m., an officer with the Joplin Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations near Junge Boulevard and Pearl Avenue, however the suspect vehicle fled, and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect vehicle ended up coming to a stop near E Street and Jackson Avenue and the driver fled from the vehicle on foot.
A perimeter was established, and a Jasper County K-9 was utilized to help track the suspect. The suspect was eventually located hiding inside a vehicle in a garage in the area. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Matthew R. Kimmel.
He was arrested on traffic related charges in addition to Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, and Resisting Arrest. Kimmel also had warrants out of the City of Carterville and Webb City. He also had a felony Resisting Arrest warrant out of Jasper County with a $50,000 bond.
His charges will be forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecutors Office for review.
