Groundbreaking set for Liberty’s new substation in Gentry, Arkansas
GENTRY, ARKANSAS – Community members and the media are invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 21475 Gann Road, Gentry, for a new Liberty substation that will serve Gentry and Arkansas customers.
Currently, Liberty’s electric customers in Gentry receive service through the substation in Decatur, Arkansas.
Due to growth in the Gentry area, a temporary mobile transformer has been used to supplement capacity. The new substation, once completed, will serve more than 2,000 customers.
“This new substation adds much needed capacity for this service area, improving reliability and supporting additional growth,” said Tim Wilson, Liberty Central Region President – Electric.
The substation is expected to be completed late summer 2024. Work to install new transmission lines should be completed in the fall of 2024.
The groundbreaking ceremony will include remarks from local and state officials and Liberty representatives.
