Funds going towards documentary about Disney’s first animation studio

Money is going towards a special mouse-themed cause.

Missouri Humanities has awarded a 5-thousand-dollar grant to a Kansas City nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to saving Walt Disney’s legacy in the city.

Thank You Walt Disney, Inc. was awarded the funds for the development and production of a documentary about the famed Laugh-O-gram Studio.

It was a Kansas City animation film studio that produced some of the earliest known cartoons.

It was at this studio that a certain rodent ran across Disney’s desk, inspiring the creation of the company’s most well known mascot, Mickey Mouse.

The nonprofit organization is also working to redevelop the building, in addition to providing a place for art and animation study.

Walt Disney’s hometown is in north-central Missouri’s Marceline.
