Shopper complains about changing room security

A woman from Joplin taking her concern over an incident she says happened at the Joplin Kohl’s store to social media.

Nathalia Burleson told NewsTalk KZRG she told store officials that an employee there violated her right to privacy in the changing rooms at that store during a visit Thursday afternoon.

She said while she was in the room, she noticed a tall person with some sort of device, peering over the top of the dressing room wall.

“When I opened [the door] I realized that this was a biologic man with purple hair, a purple skirt, face mask and men’s tennis shoes, “wrote in a Facebook post. “He also happened to be an employee of Kohls,” Burleson said.

“I asked him what he was doing. He looked like a kid caught with his hand in a cookie jar and stammered he was cleaning up rooms. I also asked about the device he had in his skirt. He said it was a Kohls scanner.

“I went directly to the manager and let him know it was unacceptable to have anyone peer over into the dressing rooms.”

She says Joplin Police were called to the store location at 301 Geneva Ave. Officers investigated the incident and gave the person in question a warning.

No arrest was made and no one was taken into custody.

“Kohl’s needs to start caring about women and their safety,” Burleson said.

NewsTalk KZRG has reached out to Kohl’s P.R. Team for a statement and is awaiting a reply.
