Coalition formed to support Missouri’s Libraries
A new Missouri coalition has been formed that supports the state’s libraries to remain an accessible resource for reading materials.
This follows recent reports that nearly 300 books have been banned in some of Missouri’s school districts because of a law that criminalizes explicit sexual material.
According to PEN America, some of the pulled books in Missouri include classics like Mark Twain and Shakespeare, the Children’s Bible, a graphic novel of the Gettysburg Address, and comic books, including ones about the Holocaust and the LGBTQ community.
Individuals and organizations can join the Right to Read Coalition at no cost.
