Ribbon-cutting planned for EV fast-chargers in Joplin

Joplin, Mo. – A ribbon-cutting for two new fast-charging stations will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Fletcher Hyundai, 3111 E. 32nd St. in Joplin, Missouri.

The chargers are part of the ChargePoint network, the largest network of EV chargers across the U.S.

The chargers are not manufacturer specific and offer 24/7 customer support. The chargers will be available both to Hyundai customers, as well as any EV owner in the community to power up.

Representatives from Liberty and the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce will offer remarks at the event, as well as be available to answer questions from those in attendance. Liberty’s Transportation Electrification team works across the area to ease the transition to electric vehicles and equip owners with charging practices that are smart and sustainable for the grid.

“Offering a place for EV drivers to stop in Joplin as they are traveling through our area is important to community growth, as people will dine and shop while they charge,“ said Larry Keen, General Manager. “We are proud to be putting Joplin on that map and happy to support our customers as they go electric.”

The event falls during National Drive Electric Week, an opportunity to grow awareness about electric vehicles, observed from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1.
