Galena man passes away after fatal two-vehicle accident Friday

A man from Galena, Kansas, has passed away from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle accident Friday evening.

54-year-old Jeffrey Lansaw was pronounced dead at a Joplin hospital early Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Lansaw was driving a pickup truck on Highway 166, just west of Baxter, when he began to make a left turn. A semi tractor trailer following behind him attempted to pass on the left and hit his truck as he made the turn.

A passenger in Lansaw’s pickup, 58-year-old Jeffery Sappington, of Quapaw, was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday.
