“Coffee with a Cop” event huge success says Parsons Police
The Parsons Police Department is pleased to announce the success of a Coffee with a Cop event on September 12, 2023, at the Farmers Union Midwest Agency, located at 1800 Main St.
The event, hosted by Shannon Schibi, marked a significant departure from previous occurrences, as it was conducted in the evening at 6:00 pm. This evening event was organized in response to requests from community members who found it challenging to attend morning sessions, which had been the traditional timing for Coffee with a Cop gatherings.
Officer Mark Raney played a pivotal role in coordinating this event alongside Shannon Schibi. Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks expressed his satisfaction with the event’s outcome, stating, “We had a remarkable turnout, with approximately 30 citizens joining us during the two-hour duration. The event fostered meaningful conversations, allowing the community to interact with night shift officers who are typically unavailable during daytime events of this nature.”
The Parsons Police Department is committed to strengthening its relationship with the community. The upcoming Coffee with a Cop event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th, coinciding with the Nationally Sponsored Coffee with a Cop Day, which will be hosted by McDonald’s. These events offer law enforcement the opportunity to engage with the community, creating lasting partnerships with its members.
Chief Spinks emphasized the importance of these interactions, stating, “It truly is a partnership with citizens that fosters good working relations and better programs for the community. We know that without community support, our agency cannot advance its proactive policing and community programs. Being transparent and approachable is vital to both us and the community.”
Mark your calendars for October 4th for the next Coffee with a Cop Event at McDonald’s and be sure to join them again on October 21st for the 2nd Annual Public Safety Fair, which will be held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, located at 1500 Cattle Drive. We eagerly anticipate another outstanding event and the opportunity to connect with our community.
