Pickup becomes airborne, overturns; man from Joplin seriously injured

An accident on Missouri Route 66, about a mile and a half west of Joplin, injured a driver around 1 p.m. Friday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report says it happened when a westbound 2015 Ram 3500 driven by 62-year-old Bruce W. Schulz of Joplin traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, became airborne, and overturned.

Schulz, who was wearing a safety device, was seriously injured.

He was taken by EMS to Freeman West hospital.
