Man shot and killed in Pittsburg; Investigation underway

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as 36-year-old Justin E. Krogen, of Pittsburg.

On Sunday morning, August 20, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., law enforcement officers from the Pittsburg Police Department, along with first responder units from Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS, were dispatched to 202 N. Locust St., in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a shooting incident.

Upon arrival, units found that an adult male had been shot outside of a local bar, and had subsequently died as a result of his injuries.

The identity of the victim will be released after next of kin have been notified.

This incident is currently under investigation at this time, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting. Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, and believe it may have stemmed from an argument.
