Help incoming to McDonald County following Tyson’s announced pullout
Help is on the way for about 15-hundred Tyson Foods workers in southwest Missouri who learned this week that their plant is closing in October.
The site in Noel is one of two in Missouri that will be shutting down.
John Newby with the McDonald County Chamber of Commerce says help is on the way:
“The Missouri rapid response team will be here, starting next Wednesday. Many companies have reached out and offered to help, not just with jobs but with, you know, there’s so many issues that come with this – mental illness, mental health, medical. What are they gonna do with their 401 K’s? What are they gonna do with their real estate if they move?”
Tyson is also closing its processing plant in Dexter, located in southeastern Missouri between Poplar Bluff and Sikeston.
That facility employs nearly 700 workers.
