Farm bill listening session to make its way to Missouri State Fair
The federal farm bill expires at the end of September and a farm bill listening session will be at the upcoming state fair.
The legislation, that sets farm policy for about five years, is expected to include partisan fights over food stamps and climate change, among other things.
Department of Agriculture Director Chris Chinn says Missouri Congressman Mark Alford is hosting the listening session.:
“This is the first time that we can remember that this has ever taken place on the State Fairgrounds,” says Chinn. “It’ll happen at the Nucor Pavilion, so there’s a lot of opportunity there to get your voice heard about the farm bill and the upcoming changes that may need to be taken place in the farm bill.”
The listening session will be August 14 in west-central Missouri’s Sedalia.
