Man drowns in Elk River

A man from Kansas City, Kansas reportedly drowned in Elk River in McDonald County over the weekend.

Authorities were alerted to the drowning just after midnight on Saturday morning.

The man, whose body was later pulled from the river, was identified as 23-year-old Victor Lopez.

A spokesman for the Noel Police Department reportedly said Lopez attempted to swim across the river in the Sycamore Landing area.
