Carthage’s Smith announces bid for State Treasurer

Missouri Representative Cody Smith has officially stepped into the race for State Treasurer.

Smith made the announcement in his home area of Carthage on Thursday.

The Republican, who was elected in 2016 and has been House Budget Chair since 2019 will be leaving the Missouri House due to term limits.

Vivek Malek is currently serving as Missouri State Treasurer

He was appointed to the post earlier this year after former Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick was elected State Auditor
