Quade announces run for Governor

Democrat would be first woman elected to state's top post

A top Missouri Democratic legislator says she is running for Governor.

37-year-old Springfield Democrat Crystal Quade, the Missouri House Minority Leader, would be the first woman elected as Missouri Governor if she wins the election in 2024.

Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Missouri Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe, both Republicans, have already announced.

Quade has been and advocate for abortion rights, gun reform and child care assistance.

Currently, Republicans hold every statewide office in Missouri and have super-majorities in both chambers of the General Assembly.
