Redings Mill Inn to go on the auction block
A well-known local business south of Joplin will soon be put up for auction.
The Redings Mill Inn will go on the block as of 9 a.m. Tuesday morning on the east side of the Newton County Courthouse.
The structure dates back to the 1870s as a private home.
It became a commercial property in the 1920s and was a well-known restaurant and nightspot during World War II when nearby Camp Crowder was the largest Army base in the continental United States.
Many soldiers in those years would stop there for burgers and beers.
The Redings Mill Inn remained a popular nightspot and weekend day venue featuring food, drinks and, sometimes, live music until just a few weeks ago.
The property will now go to the highest bidder at the auction Tuesday morning.
