NEO eSports team wins championship for Valorant
The Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College eSports team won the spring 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association Esports national championship in Valorant.
Valorant is a team-based, first-person tactical shooter game developed by Riot Games. Players are assigned to the attacking or defending team, each with five players. The last team standing wins. The NEO eSports championship team members are Paulo Gobis, Guilherme Langone, Fabio Saramello, Felipe Siqueira and Filipe Calderon, all from Brazil. Elizabeth Flees is the program coordinator, and Thales Vilar is the coach. “The NEO eSports team showcased the incredible skill, talent, and dedication of our gamers,” said Elizabeth Flees. “eSports provides a platform for individuals to display mastery, fostering healthy competition and recognizing exceptional achievements. Winning the national championship inspires others and helps break down stereotypes surrounding gaming.
