EV charging stations to come to two state parks soon
Missourians could soon charge up and visit a state park.
Montauk State Park and Roaring River State Park could soon see electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
St. Louis media reports that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is entertaining bids from companies to install EV charging stations at both parks.
They represent the inaugural work on a $1 million program approved by lawmakers in 2021.
The program, which could expand to other Missouri state parks, is designed to encourage visitors to state parks who might not otherwise get outdoors in rural areas because of a nationwide shortage of EV charging stations.
Prospective bidders will consider the scope of work during meetings on July 6th and 7th at the parks.
