Second northern snakehead captured in Missouri
Invasive species could be expanding in Missouri.
A second northern snakehead has been discovered in Missouri.
It was captured by an angler last month in Wayne County.
The first was caught in Dunklin County in 2019.
The invasive snakeheads are native to Asia, and they prey on native species.
If you find a northern snakehead, conservation officials do not want it released or thrown on the bank.
Instead, they want it killed, either through severing the head or gutting it.
It is illegal to import, sell, purchase, or possess a live northern snakehead in Missouri.
