Galena days makes annual comeback

Galena days is making its way back into town June 1st though the 3rd. Galena days is a 3 day family friendly event featuring nightly drawings, live music, food trucks, and carnival attractions.

Dinner will be served in the Community Room each night for free but there will also be local food vendors with meals for purchase. The annual event also features carnival rides from Great Plains Amusements.

Galena Mayor Ashley Qualls Groves told Newstalk KZRG, “The event itself is free, food and vender booths cost money. The carnival does arm bands every night, but if you want to just come hang out and listen to music and have a good time that’s all free.”

To keep with good Galena tradition bingo will be played nightly at the Pole Barn from 6-10pm in support of the local little league.

Galena days has a long rich history in the Kansas town. “Originally Galena days started with the Lions Club…and it started out as a fundraiser and celebration of the town” mayor Groves said, “then the volunteer fire department took it over and they’ve been doing it ever since. Our fire department is primarily volunteer so all of the funds raised through Galena days goes towards equipment for our fire department.”
