Eigel gripes about failure to pass property tax relief
Another bill that fell short of passing this year would have given Missouri residents a cut in the taxes they pay on autos, farm equipment, and other personal property.
State Senator Bill Eigel of St. Charles County sponsored the measure.
He blames some fellow Republicans for the bill’s failure, accusing them of being more concerned about passing sports betting:
“Senators saw an opportunity to try to leverage that bill for the sports betting bill. Unfortunately, it became quickly clear, long before 6pm on Friday, that it wasn’t going to work and all they were going to end up doing was costing the state a personal property tax cut, but they, you know, unfortunately they refuse to relent. And now we have nothing.”
Eigel’s also exploring a run for Missouri governor.
