Drug arrest results in multiple charges in SE Kansas

On Sunday, May 14, 56-year-old Vincent Janssen, Sr. was arrested at a traffic stop in Parsons, Kan. by Officer Rory Johnson of the Parsons Police Department.

Officers had Janssen step out of the vehicle but they say he refused to comply, pulling pants down in an attempt to kick evidence under the vehicle.

A search resulted in the discovery of 4+ grams of methamphetamine, 11 pills with presumptive positive for Opiate/Fentanyl; 367 pills presumptive positive for Cocaine; 15 Xanax pills. All items have been sent for testing.

Officers have sent an affidavit to the Labette County Attorney’s Officer requesting the charges of Distribution  of Methamphetamine; 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance; Possession of Paraphernalia; Interference with Law Enforcement; No Vehicle Liability Insurance; and a traffic infraction.

Parsons Police Department Patrol Lieutenant Kyle Wiford said, “This was a great effort and an excellent job by a proactive officer. This case is a prime example why traffic stops are such an important part of a police officers job. Being able to remove more death from the streets of Parsons by a habitual drug dealer with no intentions on doing better is a great feeling.

“I hope that Mr. Janssen either gets that picture and finds help in prison or her decides that Parsons is not the place for him to live,” Wilford stated
