Wanted fugitive arrested by Aurora-Marionville Police Department
Stephen Hopkins found in possession of suspected methamphetamine
Friday night, officers from the Aurora-Marionville Police Department attempted a traffic stop on Highway 60 for several traffic violations.
The black Mercedes passenger car failed to yield and engaged officers in a pursuit.
The pursuit continued into Republic and eventually ended on James River Freeway.
The driver was subsequently identified as 33-year-old Steven Hopkins of Springfield.
He was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was a wanted fugitive out of state.
Hopkins was transported back to Lawrence County and turned over to the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of felony charges being filed.
Police remind citizens Hopkins is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
