Joplin shooting on 20th street

Joplin Police received reports of a shooting on 20th street on Tuesday morning. Following the incident the JPD released the following statement:

On March 28th, 2023 at 08:15 am the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of gunshots at 1808 W. 20th Street.

The caller reported her boyfriend had been shot. As officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male with a gunshot wound to his thigh. He was provided immediate medical attention and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.

Detectives with the Joplin Police Department are on scene and actively investigating the incident. Further details may be released as the investigation continues and information develops.
