Deer hunters turned their game prize into supper for many needy Missouri families
Missouri families in need are able to take advantage of a popular hunting program.
Hunters turned their game prize into supper for many needy Missouri families over the past deer hunting season.
They donated more than 235-thousand pounds of venison to Missouri’s Share the Harvest program.
Donated deer meat goes to Missouri food banks and pantries.
The state Department of Conservation says the donations included nearly five-thousand whole deer.
Since 1992, the Share the Harvest program has handed out nearly five-million pounds of deer meat to needy families.
