KCU-Joplin Medical Corps Club hosts mass casualty incident simulation exercise

The KCU-Joplin Medical Corps Club hosted a mass casualty incident simulation exercise Saturday morning.

The event was held at KCU-Joplin at 2901 St.John’s Boulevard.

First- and second-year KCU medical students participated in the exercise to learn and practice vital skills that will help prepare them for real-world, large-scale incidents.

During the exercise, students navigated through a staged disaster to triage victims and implement life-saving treatment.

First-year students played the role of disaster victims while second-year students played the roles of EMTs triaging and physicians delivering treatment as KCU was transformed into a fictitious hospital.
