Cherokee County, Four-State Area, remember Pat Collins

People in Cherokee County and throughout the area took time this morning to pay tribute to former Sheriff Pat Collins, whose funeral was held this morning at the Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena.

Collins died on March 15.

He was born in Arkansas City, KS on July 1, 1947.

He graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Over the years, Collins served Cherokee County Commissioner, Galena Chief of Police and Cherokee County Sheriff.

Collins had lived in Galena, Kansas for virtually his entire life.

Pallbearers included the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Dept. Honor Guard.

Honorary Pallbearers were Brian Kerns, Randy Mangrum, and Chris Allen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Galena Education Foundation (GEF) Scholarship Fund, the Galena Police Department Auxiliary Fund, or the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Dept. Auxiliary Fund in care of the funeral home.
