Accident on River Road Friday afternoon injures one

A crash on River Road in Newton County about a half mile south of Joplin around 1:40 Friday afternoon has resulted in serious injuries to one driver.

The Missouri  State HIghway Patrol says the wreck occurred when an eastbound Jeep Cherokee driven by 51-year-old Tex A. Boyer of Joplin failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound Freightliner driven by 45-year-old Alexander Golovryin of Thompsons Station, Tenn.

Boyers suffered serious injuries and was transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin.

Golovryin was not injured.
