Wanted felon arrested after pursuit Thursday night

A man from Joplin, with several warrants out for his arrest, was taken into custody Thursday night. Read the full press release below:

On March 16, 2023, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputies, with the assistance of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, were involved in a vehicle pursuit that started near 26th Street and Prigmore Avenue, east of Joplin, Missouri and ended in Neosho.

32-year-old Jacob Posey was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Posey had several confirmed active warrants from Missouri and Oklahoma. Posey was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Additional charges were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office for resisting or interfering with an arrest, possessing a controlled substance, or a fugitive from justice, and other traffic violations.
