Ferguson man sentenced to 19 years in prison for illegal gun possession
A man from Ferguson has been sentenced to 19 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a handgun.
The lengthy sentence handed down to 30-year-old Anthony Willis was due to his status as a prior convicted felon, making him an “armed career criminal” and requiring a mandatory minimum of at least 15 years behind bars.
Willis was on parole for armed robbery in July of 2021 when he fled police in St. Louis after running a stop sign.
He fled on foot after crashing into another car, and that’s when police found a loaded Glock in his car.
