Hawley co-sponsors bill to create special inspector general to investigate Ukraine funding
Missouri U-S Senator Josh Hawley is co-sponsoring legislation that would create an inspector general’s office to investigate all federal dollars given to Ukraine.
He told Newstalk KZRG that it would include both military and non-military aid: “We ought to be tracking every penny of the hundreds of billions of dollars – I think it’s up to 113 billion now – that we have spent on Ukraine. Right now, there’s no meaningful oversight. These are essentially blank checks. Our own treasury secretary, for heaven’s sake, is flying to Ukraine to basically hand deliver the money. This is really ridiculous. We need to know where that’s going. The public deserves to know how their taxpayer dollars are being spent.”
Hawley is opposed to giving additional aid to Ukraine, and says he’s been voting against additional spending bills for the country for about a year now.
The war between Russia and Ukraine is now in its second year.
