Group Effort To Reduce Wildfire Risk In Parts Of Missouri
There’s a group effort to reduce the risk of wildfire in parts of Missouri.
Mark Twain National Forest and Fort Leonard Wood plan to jointly conduct the Cannon Range prescribed burn in order to increase forest health and reduce risks of extreme wildfires.
If the weather holds up, the project is expected to be implemented today.
A helicopter will be used to ignite the fire, while crews will monitor and build containment lines from roads surrounding the project area.
Personnel will use area smoke monitoring stations to monitor and minimize smoke impacts.
