Freeman OccuMed to host “Reasonable Suspicion” training
Local experts discuss ways to maintain drug-free workplace
National studies show that nearly one in four employees openly admits to using alcohol or drugs while at work.
This Friday, March 3, in an effort for area businesses to maintain safe work environments for its employees, Freeman OccuMed – in collaboration with Ozark Center and Joplin Police Department – will host a reasonable suspicion training workshop on Friday for more than 120 local supervisors and managers.
The session will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Freeman Business Center conference room at 3220 S. McClelland Blvd..
The workshop is designed to educate executives about the undesirable effects both drugs and alcohol can have on workplace safety as health officials continue to record large spikes in opioid usage nationwide.
Local experts – including Freeman OccuMed Medical Director Dennis Estep, Ozark Center’s Dr. Nauman Ashraf, and Joplin Police Department Captain Austin Wolf – will instruct attendees on how to observe and confirm the proper signs of impairment, how to document those actions, and ultimately how to confront and test individuals.
