Freeman Health System’s new online check-in aims to streamline patient experience

Freeman Health System is implementing a new online check-in system for Freeman Health System patients. The new check-in system is currently live in six clinics but Freeman is working to bring it to all their clinics.

The new online check-in process was introduced during the monthly Freeman Advantage HealthWISE meeting. The system automates appointments through a patient’s smartphone, tablet or laptop by reminding them of upcoming appointments or allowing them to confirm, cancel or reschedule an appointment without making a single phone call or having to wait on hold.

Annette Allgood, a physician group supervisor with Freeman, spent months working on the roll out of this new process. In an interview she described the purpose of the new system, “Prior to [patients] even walking into the door they can do all that registration information, give us consents, pay their copays, [pay] any balances owed, and that gives us the time to prep that information and have it available for a physician visit.”

Allgood noted to Newstalk KZRG this new process will not only streamline the patient experience but will also free up Freeman staff to complete more complicated tasks, “today the patient is required to come up to the desk and register and we have to ask them all kinds of questions but this new system asks them ahead of time so we don’t have to do that anymore. This new system also frees up staff to answer the phones more and be able to schedule appoints. That side of thins is otherwise slowed down when people are standing in line ahead of them.”
