Police arrest Kastler after vehicle pursuit
Gunshots fired; additional charges sought
On Friday night, Feb. 24, at approximately 11:18 p.m., officers with the Joplin Police Department
attempted to conduct a high-risk traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Tahoe near 2315 W. 7th Street.
Officers believed Adam E. Kastler, a suspect in a shooting that took place on Feb. 7th, in Joplin, was an occupant inside the vehicle.
During the Friday night stop, Kastler forcefully stole the vehicle from its owner and fled the scene from officers.
Kastler had active felony warrants out of Newton County for Failure to Appear as well as a Joplin Municipal warrant for Failure to Appear.
During the pursuit, Kastler fired multiple gunshots at pursuing Joplin Police Officers at multiple points in the pursuit.
The pursuit entered Kansas and the suspect vehicle crashed west of Galena.
Kastler was taken into custody without further incident and transferred to Kansas law enforcement officials.
No officers were injured and no officers discharged their weapons during the incident.
Following the pursuit and arrest Friday night, criminal charges are being sought against Kastler.
