Freeman worker Rick Moore survived a major heart attack
Last May, Freeman employee Rick Moore was at work when he started not feeling well.
“I began feeling like I had a pulled muscle on the left side of my chest and my left shoulder blade,” Moore said, who serves as Freeman’s Capital Acquisitions Coordinator.
After undergoing an EKG at the clinic, he said, “the doctor came in and told me. I was having a heart attack.”
Specifically, he was in the early stages of a widowmaker heart attack, which occurs when there’s full blockage of the heart’s main left arteries.
Only 12% of people who suffer this type of heart attack outside the hospital survive, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Quick action by Freeman Hospital got him into specialized heart care and saved his life.
February is American Heart Month.
