Alleged Pittsburg robbery suspect apprehended

A man from Pittsburg is in custody for an alleged aggravated robbery Sunday evening. Read the full press release from Pittsburg PD below:

On Sunday, January 22, 2023, at approximately 6:36 p.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were called to an address in the 900 block of East 8th Street for a robbery which has just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the 62-year-old female victim. The victim reported to officers that a male subject had just forced his way inside her residence, struck her several times in the head, took her wallet, and broke her phone before fleeing from the residence. Crawford County EMS was called to the residence to assess the victim’s injuries.

As a result of the victim’s statements, officers were able to identify the suspect as 49- yearold Gilbert Edwin Larson, of Pittsburg. Larson is a subject known to the victim and who had previously been to her home. Officers were able to quickly determine Larson’s location, and apprehended him, without incident, at a residence in the 900 block of East 9th Street. Gilbert Larson was arrested for aggravated robbery, battery, misdemeanor theft, and felony criminal damage. He is currently being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
