Truck crash causes power outages in Carthage and Oronogo
On Monday night at around 9:30 a tractor trailer caught fire and overturned on a Jasper County roadway knocking over powerlines.
The crash occurred on Jackpine road just outside of Carthage. According to reports the crash caused power outages to approximately 4,100 Liberty Utilities customers across Carthage and Oronogo and started a small grass fire.
The Carthage fire department along with Oronogo fire, and Jasper County deputies all arrived on scene to help put out the fire and restore safety so crews could repair the damage.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and the driver suffered only minor injuries.
