St. Louis Cardinals roll into Joplin
Nootbaar says he's ready for spring training to begin. . .
The St. Louis Cardinals Caravan rolled into Joplin this morning.
The event, at MSSU’s Young Gymnasium, featured a question and answer session with players and alumni including Lars Nootbaar, Zack Thompson, Gordon Graceffo, Randy Flores and Alan Benes.
Lars Nootbaar said he’s ready for spring training anytime:
“Baseball is so much of our lives, it’s tough to completely flip that off,” he stated. “Really, once the new year turns, that’s kind of when you’re really ‘here it comes.’ You can kind of feel it,'” he said.
“I’m excited,” Nootbaar added. “My body feels really good. I think if they wanted me to play nine innings, I could.”
Cardinal players participated in a Q and A session.
Several hundred fans turned out for the event which had to be canceled in recent off-seasons due to COVID-19.
Redbird games are broadcast on AM 1230 “The Talker.”
