Joplin’s new court house is complete
Joplin’s new court house had its open house on Friday after nearly 2 years of construction. The new building is located on 633 S. Pearl Ave. where a Baptist church once stood and replaces the old courts building which was built in 1975.
The ground breaking event for the new courts building was held in October of 2020. According to the Jasper County Western District Commissioner Darieus Adams the 35 million dollar building was relatively unaffected by the supply chain issues that has delayed other large area projects.
Dan Rowe of TreanorHL, the architectural firm responsible for the project, commented saying he is incredibly proud of his team and of the community for all the work they did to make the new building a reality. Rowe noted his team was inspired by the community and wanted to create “a sense of pride that in a 100 years from now your grandkids will be as proud of this building as you are”.
The new building is fully complete but will not be open to the public until January 9th, 2023.
