Early morning crash causes serious injuries to a driver from St. Louis

An early-morning wreck on the first day of 2023 sent a St. Louis man with serious injuries to a Springfield hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Crash report, the accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. on January 1st on Route D in Crane in Stone County.

The crash occurred when an eastbound 2018 Ford Explorer operated by 24-year-old Ezekil Simpson of St. Louis ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.

Simpson suffered serious injuries, according to the Highway Patrol report.

He was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Springfield.
