Man arrested in connection with 1980 “cold case”

BARTON COUNTY, Kan. –   In Barton County, Kansas there has been an arrest in connection with a 1980 homicide case.

Sheriff’s office officials say a man has been taken into custody.

The case is in connection with the January 1980 murder of Mary Robin Walter.

That case  had been cold for years until 68-year-old Steven L. Hanks of Burden, Kansas was arrested.

He is being returned to Barton county, according to the Barton County Sheriff’s office.
