Craig County accident takes life of woman from Vinita

A car wreck in Craig County Oklahoma near Ketchum has taken the life of an 18-year-old woman from Vinita.

The crash took place around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on OK- Highway 82 near Ketchum.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a car driven by 18-year old Saffron Durham of Vinita and another vehicle driven by 62-year old Kenneth Turner also of Vinita were driving southbound.

When Turner slowed to turn off the highway, he was struck in the rear by Durham’s vehicle.

Durham was pronounce dead at the scene. Turner refused treatment. A passenger in his car, 32-year-old Carson Wiley, was taken to a Joplin hospital in fair condition.

According to OHP, the crash was caused by inattention.
