PSU student helps empowers 350 fellow students to vote
During the weeks leading up to midterms while many students were busy studying, PSU Social Work student Avery Barber was registering first-time voters and empowering all voters to get out to the polls.
Barber was able to reach out to over 350 PSU students by speaking in classes and Greek life chapter meetings.
She advocated for her peers to register in Crawford County and to vote early on campus.
Her research showed that the convenience of a polling location increases the chance of voting. Barber’s presentation helped 46 voters to change their registration to Crawford County.
Along with registering and transferring, Barber assisted in the application for absentee ballots, change in address forms and registrations with new names.
Barber also created a Facebook page called Empower PSU Voters.
