Long-closed Holiday Inn to be demolished

At one time, the John Q. Hammons Holiday Inn at 3615 S. Range Line was Joplin’s largest hotel with just over 260 rooms, a popular lounge and restaurant.

Now, it appears the long-closed structure will be torn down.

The hotel has experienced significant vandalism and deterioration over the years.

So much so that the current owners in Nashville, Tennessee have determined that saving it is not practical.

There is no specified timetable for the hotel’s demolition.
