Nutmeg road accident kills woman from Avilla

There was a fatality accident at Nutmeg Road and County Road 70, about four miles west of Avilla on Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol report says it happened at 11:39 Saturday morning when a vehicle driven by 73-year-old Linda M. Getty of Avilla pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Christian Blevins of Carthage.

After impact, Getty’s car went off the road and struck a utility pole, ejecting her from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blevins suffered only minor injuries.

He was transported to Mercy-Joplin Hospital for treatment.
